What it’s like to work with a conversion-focused copywriter

Let’s be honest: most people don’t actually know what goes into great website copy.

They think you just… sit down and write.

But if you’re a coach, therapist, or consultant, you know your work is deeper than that. It’s about understanding what people really need — and reflecting it back in a way that feels clear, trustworthy, and true.

That’s exactly how I approach copy too.
When we work together, my job isn’t just to write words — it’s to help you translate your hard-won wisdom into a website that connects with your people and gets them to click Get in Touch.

Here’s how it works.

Step 1: Deep research that makes your message feel like home

Before I touch a single headline, I dive into your world — and your clients’ world.

That includes:

  • Interviewing you to understand your voice, goals, and what makes your work unique
  • Talking to 3–5 past clients to hear what mattered most to them (this is always gold)
  • Mining reviews, forums, and surveys for language your audience already uses
  • Synthesizing it all into a short insights report so we’re grounded in what matters most

This step is magic. It’s how we make your site feel like a mirror — so when your ideal client lands on it, they think: “Yes. This is exactly what I need.”

Step 2: Writing & wireframing your site

Next comes the copy.

But I don’t just write pretty sentences. I structure every section intentionally to:

  • Guide visitors through a clear journey
  • Reduce overwhelm and hesitation
  • Emphasize your unique value
  • Prompt action at exactly the right moment

I also wireframe the copy, which means I map out how it’ll appear on the page — where buttons go, what leads to what, and what headline needs to carry the biggest emotional weight.

We edit together until it feels just right — like you’re putting on your favorite outfit that somehow makes you feel both powerful and at ease.

Step 3: Creative direction & collaboration

If you’re working with a designer or developer, I collaborate with them to make sure the words and design stay aligned — that your message shines through in both tone and layout.

If you don’t have a designer, I offer simple mockups and layout guidance to help your site look polished and pro.

My goal: to help you show up in a way that feels both genuine and magnetic.

Step 4: Light validation (optional, but powerful)

Depending on your goals, we might test the copy before launch with things like:

  • Five Second Tests to see what’s coming across
  • Quick reviews from real prospects or peers
  • Lightweight split-testing for key headlines or CTAs

You don’t need fancy tools or a huge audience. A handful of the right eyes can make a world of difference in confirming your message is landing.

Final thoughts

You don’t need a website that just “sounds good.”
You need a site that reflects your real expertise and values — one that helps people feel seen, understood, and ready to reach out.

Because once they’re on a call with you? You already know how to do your magic.

I just help make sure more of the right people get to that call.
